Our Services
- Axisymmetric Flow
- Supersonic Flow
- Heat Transfer in a Flow Field
Axisymmetric Flow
A convergent-divergent nozzle is highly sensitive to throat size and area expansion profile. To achieve designed jet stream at the nozzle’s end, the axisymmetric profile is varied carefully, along with back pressure, keeping the total inlet pressure constant. Important considerations while designing are minimizing shock wave formations, perfecting the expansion of the gas and minimizing total temperature increase.
Key applications:
- Pressure regulators
- Jet engine design
Supersonic Flow
Bullets are meant to travel at speeds much greater than the speed of sound. To estimate how much drag a bullet faces, the case can be simulated in a CFD model. Formation of continuous oblique shock waves, normal shock waves and expansion waves can occur depending on bullets with different geometric features.
Key Applications:
- Aerodynamic forces on supersonic aircrafts
- Range and trajectory estimation of bullets
Heat Transfer in a Flow Field
Convection, in addition to conduction, is a phenomenon of heat transfer, primarily adopted by fluids. With the help of CFD, effective heat transfer along a surface can be estimated, provided the forced or unforced flow conditions.
Key Applications:
- Design of heat sinks and corresponding, if any, fans
- Analysis of a heating/cooling solution
